David Michael Amburgey, age 58, passed peacefully in his sleep and was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Friday, January 11, 2019.  He was born on September 21, 1960 in Fredericksburg, VA to Guy Amburgey Sr. and Betty Patteson Amburgey.  Known to many friends and family simply as “Head,” he was a 1978 graduate of King George High School and played baseball, football, and other sports for the Foxes.

David loved the Lord above all else.  He was studying theology at Liberty University and found great joy in sharing his faith with everyone he encountered.  David loved to hunt, fish, and was a dedicated Washington Redskins fan.

He was preceded in death and has now reunited with his parents, Guy and Betty.  David will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters Gary Amburgey, Diana Amburgey, Guy Amburgey Jr., Erika Amburgey McLemore, nephews and nieces Amy Fines, Jacob Fines, Jason Fines, Amber Endicott, Cameron Endicott, Elizabeth “Liz” Endicott, Raven Chong-Sang, Pamela Amburgey, uncle and aunts Macon & Nancy Patteson, Geraldine Jent, and countless friends that David loved as family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Storke Funeral Home Nash and Slaw Chapel in King George, VA at 11:00 am followed by a reception at Tabernacle Baptist Church in King George.  Following David’s wishes, his ashes will be spread in the mountains of Kentucky at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Brisben Center in Fredericksburg, VA.
