George E. Rector, Jr., 64, of King George, VA passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 surrounded by his family at his home after a long illness.

George was born to George & Peggy Rector on May 2, 1954 in Nokesville, VA where he spent his formative years. He graduated from Brentsville District High School as valedictorian and entered the U.S. Naval Academy as a Midshipman in 1972. In 1976 he earned a commission into the U.S. Marine Corps, serving proudly for 29 years, retiring as a Colonel in 2005. George enjoyed cooking, had a passion for singing, but his two biggest loves were service to his country and his family.

George is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy Rector; his children, Kelly (Jason) Carlo, Katie Rector, Kevin (Nicola) Rector and Keri (David) Boucher; his sister, Gayle Anstine and his grandchildren, Carter Rector and Caleb Carlo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Watson. The family will receive friends at the King George chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Sunday, January 13th from 2:00 – 4:00pm. A funeral service will follow on Monday, January 14th at 12:00pm in the Semper Fidelis Memorial Chapel at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, 18900 Jefferson Davis Highway, Triangle VA. Burial will follow at 2:00pm at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.theaftd.org.
