I first met Jean through the Caroline County Historical group. We would see each other at those annual meetings and special events. What impressed me most was her friendly, welcoming demeanor...and the fact that she always knew who I was and remembered my name as if we had just spoken the day before. The very first time we met, I had been asking her about people who had lived in the A.P. Hill area of Caroline and she knew a few of the older people whom she said she would call for us. So she invited us...Me, my husband, my two boys, my aunt and my cousin back to her house for lunch!!! She made the phone call after we ate and I had an introduction to a lady I would have otherwise never had the chance to meet. Ironically, I just received her Christmas card with her letter and family pictures and I was sitting down to send her my card when I checked the Storke site just to keep updated about any relatives' passings since I live 3 hours away and can't get to services very easily. When I saw Jean's name, I was genuinely startled...and then saddened. I sincerely wish I could come to her service but I will have to be satisfied in knowing that I had the privilege of knowing a fine, welcoming lady who lived an incredibly productive and beautiful life. Please accept our most sincere wishes of condolence and comfort...especially in this season that is preparing us to celebrate new life in the coming of of a very special child. Our family will miss your mom greatly. She was a Christian woman, a leader, and an inspiration to us all. Prayers to all of the family. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the visitation or funeral service due to my work schedule, but wanted all of you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Our family would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jean Drummond Broaddus. Words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one, and death is truly a painful enemy to the human family. Please take comfort in 2 scriptures found in God’s Word the Bible. John 5:28,29 speaks of the resurrection, and Revelation 21:3,4 promises the time in the future when death and mourning will be no more. Our prayers are with you.

Jean was always very kind and positive to everyone and very devoted to her family. Family gatherings at her home and Aunt Mary’s were happy times. My thoughts are with all my cousins.
