My deepest condolences to family and friends. I knew Art through his passion for wetlands and the fair and equitable tax assessment of such property. I could not but like Art. A huge personality. He would call me from time to time to discuss property assessments, but our conversations would drift. He loved his family, missed his wife. I know I will miss him, and our talks. Everlasting be his memory

I will really miss seeing Mr. Terry. He always made our whole office smile and laugh. He was full of life and taught me a lot about all of his interests. He will be greatly missed. Wishing your family much comfort and peace.

Dear Melissa and Family: I had to take some time before I could write to you. I was shocked at the loss my friend and a brilliant,caring, talented man... A man who loved and was devoted to his wife, raised a caring successful daughter and beamed with pride over his grandson. I am so relieved that Jessie has bonded to that grandson and is doing well. Art loved his dogs! If you ever need someone for Jessie I am here for her just call! I will miss my dear friend. The world will miss a caring soul and a community servant. Judy and I are sorry to hear about Art's passing. He shot skeet with us in the 70's and 80's. He was a great shooter. He and Barbara were friends for many years. We spent lots of time together at the Fredericksburg Rod and Gun Club. He will be missed by all who knew him. We will always remember the good times with him and Barbara. May he rest in peace and may you always have good memories.

To the Terry Family: So sorry to hear of Art's passing. I had known both Barbara and Art for many years and they were some of my very closest friends. In times of grief, just remember the good times, as I'm sure there were many. God Bless.

I am just today on the 29th finding out about Art and cannot express how sad I am. Two years ago this past February I was living at the vet's office with yet another elderly and sick dog, the last of four Labs my husband and I had for more than a decade. My heart was so sad and I was just worn out and I looked up and there was Art Terry who I had known for years. At first I did not even notice the beautiful brown curly haired dog sitting against his leg. Art asked me how I was and instead of saying fine as I normally would, I told him with tears rolling just what I was thinking. That losing my dogs was breaking my heart and I felt like at the age of 60 I had no business getting another big dog. Art smiled a little and just then from around his leg, the beautiful face of the dog appeared. Art reminded me he was in his late 70s and that his Chesapeake (which was the dog of my childhood and a dog my grandfather raised)was two years old and that he and she had come to an understanding and that it could be done. As you know Jessie had eyes only for him and I could tell she was a one man dog but I asked if I could pet her head and Jessie allowed it when Art asked her to. I left that day with dry eyes and just a week or so later I lost my dog to cancer. With Art and Jessie in mind, I found a breeder and in July was on my way to picking up my "Noor" and then this year another, my male named "Fitz." Art would call to check up on us and compare "Chessie notes." and was much amused that we had two. Because of your Dad I had the courage to go it again. He was a wonderful remarkable person and I will miss him greatly. I know from Nancy Long that Jessie is with his grandson and I am so glad. If for any reason, this does not work out, Jessie has a home with me as long as she lives .

Dear Melissa, I worked with your Dad at Dahlgren in the 70s and he had the best sense of humor! He also always spoke frequently, lovingly and with great pride of you and your Mom. My sympathy and prayers for your loss. May you and your family be comforted as you grieve.

Art Terry was one of my favorite clients to come into the animal hospital. His sense of humor brightened my day. His ability to train dogs amazed me. He was truly a dog whisperer. I will miss our visits and the joy he brought with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this time of loss.

We are sadden to learn of Art passing away. When we lived next door to he and Barbara on Kinlock they always took an interest in our son, Elliott. Art was a kind gentle soul that I always admired. Thoughts and prayers to Melissa and her family.
