James Rollin “Buddy” Morgan, III, 55, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and beloved pastor Rev. Dennis Newton, December 25th, 2018, after a courageous battle with mental illness and Parkinson’s disease.

He is survived by parents Jim and Carrol Morgan, sisters Catherine (COL (R) Tom) Washington and Christine Morgan, his niece Casandra (Noah) Philipson, nephew Thomas Washington, Jr., and niece Elizabeth Washington, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many cherished friends. He was predeceased by his beloved grandparents Happy and Slydelle Morgan of King George and Francis and Caroline Keys of Dumfries.

He was a lifelong resident of King George County, graduated King George High School 1981, Mary Washington College with a Bachelor of Science in Physics 1986. He was employed at Logicon, Dahlgren, as a Computer Analyst for 8 years.

Buddy was known for his devotion as a grandson and for his gentle, kind, compassionate and caring ways toward everyone he met. All enjoyed his quick wit and sense of humor.

Buddy was honored to volunteer at Potomac Baptist Church and was actively involved in: Recovery In Motion Mental Health Support Group, Rappahannock Area Coin Club, YMCA, Rock Steady Boxing and the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and the Virginia Numismatic Society. Buddy loved space exploration, Star Trek, playing the piano, and listening to his favorite music.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 29th from 6-8 pm at Storke Funeral Home (11089 James Madison Parkway, King George, VA). The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, December 30th, at Potomac Baptist Church (8103 Comorn Rd, King George, VA).
