Storke Funeral Home Obituaries

Passed away on June 19, 2021 (Age 69). Formerly of Bowie, MD, she was a team leader in the Medstar Washington Hospital Center hematology laboratory for 41 years. Born in Takoma Park, Maryland, in 1952 to Catherine Kane Hernick and Nicholas Hernick, Jr., she is survived by her husband Earl Leach, daughter Veronica Leach Lange (Jeremiah), brother Nicholas J. Hernick (Nancy), sister Marybeth Hernick Janney (Thomas Martin), and goddaughter Mary Kate Kovacsi. She was predeceased by sister Kathy Hernick Kovacsi (Imre), and brothers James Kane Hernick and David C. Hernick. A viewing will be held on Monday, July 5, 2021 from 4 to 6 pm at Storke Funeral Home, 11089 James Madison Pkwy, King George, VA 22485.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 12010 Woodmore Rd., Mitchellville, MD at 11 a.m. Prior to the Mass the family will have a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
