Lois Marie Tate, 78, of Mechanicsville died Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Memorial Regional Medical Center. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years and love of her life, Harold Tate. She had worked many years with her husband as bookkeeper at J. Harold Tate Bulldozing. She was active with her children serving as Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout Den mother. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a member of Ashcake Volunteer Rescue Squad and a founding member of the Frog Level Volunteer Rescue Squad, where she served as several officers with them through the years. She always took her children to the movies when new Disney films were released, and continued this with her granddaughters. Never a holiday went by that didn’t have special treats made up for the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved traveling wither her family or her best friend of 70 years, Grayce Taylor. She loved making cards and ornaments and enjoyed crafting and lunches with Bonnie, Ronda and Susie. She is survived by three children, Becky, Jimmy ,(Holly Krol) and Cindy (Brian Marmaduke); four grandchildren, Lynn Peachman (Ken), Holly O’Brien, (Tim) Jennifer Tate and Ann Marie Marmaduke; six great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Samantha, Michael, Lily, Charles and Aiden; a sister, Betty Lee Garcia; and a brother, Don Smith. A graveside service will be held 11 am Thursday, April 21 at Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a local Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad. |
