Lewis Worrell, 82, of Colonial Beach, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 at his home. Lewis was born July 18, 1940 to the late Richard Owen Worrell and Sarah Ruth Bowler Worrell. Lewis retired after more than 25 years working as a Stationary Engineer for Charles E. Smith Management Company, where he specialized in maintaining large HVAC Systems. When he wasn’t working, Lewis enjoyed spending time with his family, going to watch his grandchildren play sports, cheering them on, and taking them on 4-wheeler rides as well. Lewis loved to be outside, hunting and fishing were two of his favorite things. He was a member of Pantico Run Hunt Club in Montross for many years. Lewis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Paulette Worrell, 3 children, Tena Gallup (Larry), Tracy Hodges, Kimberley Smoot (Pat), a brother, Thomas Worrell, 5 grandchildren, John Gallup (Tricia), Dylan Clark, Kaetlyn Franklin (Bailey), Kendall Hodges and Owen Hodges, 3 great grandchildren, Caleb, Wyatt, and Mason Gallup, as well as all of his “grand-dogs”, who he considered family. A celebration of Lewis’ life will be held at a later date, to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Oak Grove Fire Dept, Westmoreland Rescue Squad, and/or your local animal shelter.
