Dominic Joel Proudfoot, born December 3, 2022, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on February 6, 2023. Dominic was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with a complex congenital heart defect. He was cared for by his amazing team of medical professionals at UVA Children’s Hospital of Charlottesville and VCU Children’s Hospital of Richmond. He was a fighter from the first minutes of life and remained that way until the end. Dominic’s nine weeks on earth were far too short, but were filled with love and bravery. Every miraculous moment of his life was cherished by his parents, Michael and Tiana, and his four siblings, Nadia Joy, Levi Jordan, Joshua Nathaniel, and Charis Eliora. He will be missed by them with every breath, as well as by his loving grandparents Mike and Stephanie Proudfoot, and Mark and Deb Sebastian; his doting aunts, uncles and cousins; and his sweet friends. Dominic resided in Montross, Virginia, where he spent his days surrounded by love and laughter. He was never happier than when he was being snuggled by his Daddy, being entertained by his siblings, or being sung to by his Mama. Dominic taught them so much in their time together, like to walk forward in courage, to treasure the time you’re given, and to rely always on the goodness of God. His smile is forever etched into their hearts. It’s a comfort to know that Dominic is healed and whole in his eternal home with many other beloved people, including his great-grandparents, his great uncles, his father’s unborn sibling, his own unborn sibling, his twin cousins, and his special friend, Vicki (“Tink”) Cooke. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, February 18, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, followed by a private graveside service at Historyland Memorial Park.
