March 12, 1932 - February 15, 2023 A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, February 20, 2023 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow Greenlawn Cemetery. |

Edwin B. Carter, affectionately known as Putt, peacefully transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly palace on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Parham Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born at “Newmarket Plantation” in Caroline County, Virginia, Putt was the son of the late Herbert W. and Sallie Pitts Carter. Putt retired as a machine operator at Boxes to Size. Putt was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, softball, and football. He loved the Washington Redskins, now known as the Washington Commanders. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Elnora Goodman Carter; two sons, Lynn and Larry Carter; brothers, Robert Carter, William “Buck” Carter, Herbert W. “Jim” Carter, Julian R. “Big Boy” Carter, and John O. Carter; sisters, Clara Briggs and Elizabeth Portewig. Left to cherish his memories are his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Ernest and Sharon Goodman; five grandchildren, Dawn G. Smith (Jordan), Amanda Goodman, Allison Kemmerer (Stephen), Jake and Billy Carter; four great-grandchildren, Kohen and Kasen Smith, Cade Clark, and Ayla Kemmerer; a host of other relatives and friends, among them, Franklin Jones, a devoted friend until the very end. |
