Macon Gardner Patteson, 76, of King George passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the Air Force and retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division where he served as a government civilian and contractor supporting the Environmental Safety Office. Macon was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, gardening, golfing or just sitting on the porch enjoying the wildlife. Macon never met a stranger and was eager to lend a helping hand in any way he could. He loved to attend sporting events and would follow his son and eventually grandson anywhere the competition took him. He was known by old friends as “Pete” and the many young people he influenced as Mr. Patteson. Macon was active member of the community, serving King George athletics in the Quarterback Club and was a lifetime member of the King George Fire Department. Macon will be dearly missed by all that had the pleasure to know and meet him. He was preceded in death by his parents “Pat” and Jimmie Patteson and two sisters, Betty Amburgey and Ann Hagaman. Macon is survived by his loving wife Nancy P. Patteson, son Jamie Patteson and his wife Tara Jo, his grandson Jay Patteson, and several nieces and nephews.
