Mr. Reginald Philip Hayden, Sr.,82 passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at his home in King George County after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Philip and Hester Hayden of Dahlgren. He was a graduate of King George High School and received a Degree in Mathematics from Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Va. He was also a graduate of the Department of Defense Program Management School. After thirty-two years he retired from the Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Va. as a Supervisory Mathematician. Upon his retirement, Mr. Hayden built and owned The Village Apartments in King George. He was also active for many years in County government; serving as a member of the King George County Board of Supervisors; The King George County Social Services Board and a member of the Rappahannock Area Development Commission. He was also the Emergency Services Coordinator for the County. Mr. Hayden was an avid sportsman; Hunting on his farm at Dogue and spending warm summer days fishing at the River House in Westmoreland County. He is survived by his wife, Elva Farmer Hayden; his son Philip Hayden and his wife Mary; a daughter Beth Amrhein and her fiancé Robbie Reamy; and four grandchildren; David Conner and his wife Alannah, Brooks Hayden, Hayden Amrhein and Chloe Amrhein. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Jennifer and a son-in-law Timothy Amrhein. A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in King George at 11am on Saturday, April 29th.
