Wilton Ray “Bubba” Pugh passed away on September 25, 2023. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Cleveland and Lula Pugh; his sisters, Doris, Alice, Charlotte and Barbara; his brothers, Joe, Robbie, and Boogie; and his granddaughter Ryann Taylor. Bubba is survived by his dedicated wife of 50 years, Delona Hicks Pugh; his children, Jason, Troy (Kim), and Sean (Ashley/Buttercup); his 4 grandsons, Hayden (Tater), Brady, Levi, and Charlie (PeeWee); his granddaughters, Reed, and Delaney; his brother, Arthur “Red” Pugh, and sister, Estelle Cecil; his friend/brother-in-law, Irvin Anderson; his adopted family Amanda Seal and Liam, and multiple nieces and nephews. Bubba was a lifelong Chilesburg resident and always surrounded by his family. He had a huge love for the outdoors, so he quit school at 14, to pursue rabbit hunting, and softball. When those careers failed to pay the bills, he became a skilled tree climber, plumber, heavy equipment operator, and HVAC installer. He also volunteered as the local neighborhood watch, riding the loop around Chilesburg while drinking his favorite beverage. Among his accomplishments was winning Papaw of the year for 23 years in a row. He was a true fighter who endured 2 leg amputations, as well as colon and lung cancer. He was a simple and humble man. He loved his family and community, and they loved him. The family would like to thank At Home Hospice of Fredericksburg for all of their help, love, and support. A special thank you to Shelly, Lauren, Kiley, and Amanda. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Faison school for Autism, in Richmond VA. The family will receive friends 11:00AM-1:00 PM Monday, October 2, 2023 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, A memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. |
