John “Johnny” Anderson, age 70, passed away on October 15, 2023 at the Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital in Richmond. Johnny is survived by his beloved significant other of 14 years, Ellen Gagne; his two cherished daughters, Lisa of Colonial Beach and Heather of Virginia Beach; as well as his siblings, Roy Anderson, Diane Sprouse, Eva Anderson, James Anderson and Patty Rouse. He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston & Virginia Anderson; sisters, Faith Lee Sprouse and Mary Massie; and brothers, Donald “Duck”, Richard “Gook”, William “Beaver”, Glenn “Keet,” and Michael “Muggs”. Johnny was a dedicated waterman, finding solace and purpose in the rhythm of the tides. For decades, he lived and worked on the water, a place he dearly loved. In his later years, some of his fondest moments were spent catching and cooking crabs. He would eagerly invite friends and family to share in the simple joy of a bushel of crabs, paired with laughter, love, and his favorite beer. Beyond the water, Johnny found fulfillment in working with his hands. He had an extraordinary talent for creating ornate yard decorations, a testament to his skill and creativity. Many admired him as a “jack of all trades”. “Johnny was Johnny no matter where he was,” a sentiment that captures the authenticity and genuineness that defined him. He wanted all his friends in Colonial Beach to how deeply he loved them and expressed his gratitude for the countless good times shared.
