Ellen Mae Courtney

Ellen Mae Courtney, 88, of Brunswick, MD, passed away on November 26, 2023.

Ellen was a compassionate soul, known for her kind and caring nature that extended not only to people but also to animals. She made sure all were warm and fed. Ellen had a special fondness for cardinals and found joy in hand feeding peanuts to her favorite squirrel, Charlie. Ellen was a devoted Baltimore Orioles fan.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Courtney; and siblings, Donald, Ralph Jr., Buddy, Jimmy, Wallace, Charlotte, and Helen. She was a beloved mom of six children, Charlton, Leroy, Steven, Curtis, Paul, and Candi. She is survived by her sisters, Betty, Daisy, Ruby, and Phyllis; brothers, Charlie and Harold; grandchildren, Taylor, Rachel, Gabriel, Reese, Brooke, and Melanie; and close friend and neighbor, Joanne Runkles.

A memorial service to celebrate Ellen’s life will be held at a later date in Augusta, Maine.
