Pamela Mabel Chambers (nee Budd) passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends in the early morning of June 23, 2024 at Lovettsville Home Assisted Living in Loudoun County, Virginia. Born May 17, 1943 in a suburb of London, England to (and preceded in death by) Walter Ernest Budd and Vera Marcelle Budd (nee Dixon), Pam graduated from Lady Eldridge School in Croydon Surrey, worked for the Australia & New Zealand Bank, worked in Germany for two years, then while working for USAA Bank, moved in 1968 to Montgomery, Alabama. There, Pam met her husband and joined a 28-year active duty Air Force adventure. Ever poised and dignified, with soft Queen’s English, Pam made friends and captured hearts from all 50 states, all continents, dozens of countries. The most gracious First Lady at two Strategic Air Command Missile Wings (390 SWM in Tucson, Arizona and 308 SWM in Little Rock, Arkansas), her influence on the military community was a magical human touch. Pam shared her love of education, history, cultures, languages, and travel with her children. Retiring in Arlington, Virginia, Pam became the President of The Arlington Woman’s Club, an active member of multiple unique book clubs, and hosted hundreds of visitors at her lovely home. We miss our “RoseBudd.” Pam is survived by her husband of 53 years, Colonel John Edward Chambers DPA (USAF Ret), their children Jennifer Michelle Chambers MBA/MPA and John Michael Chambers, stepdaughter Gena Denis and granddaughter Kati Denis of Maine, brother Walter Ernest Budd & sister-in-law Carol Christine Lynne Budd (nee Ongeri) of the Bailiwick of Jersey, sister Janet Marcia Budd of Dorset, England, and niece Deborah E Chambers of Massachusetts. A private service will occur on a later date in her resting place at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, financial contributions, or condolences, the family greatly appreciates happy memories, stories, and/or photos including Pam in the guestbook section of this memorial website.
