Jane Anne Marie (Mulcahy) Lancto, 92, passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2024 surrounded by caring loved ones. She was born in North Adams, Mass., and was the daughter of Charles M. and Florence (Perreault) Mulcahy. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School and later married her beloved late husband, Richard “Dick” Northup Lancto, in 1953. They resided in Southampton, Mass., before relocating to Bowling Green, VA. in 1977. Together, Dick and Jane raised five sons and gained three daughters-in-law; Charles and Shannon Lancto, Kevin and Brenda Lancto, the late John Lancto, the late Mathew Lancto (all of Caroline), and Thomas and Gail Lancto of Spotsylvania. She leaves her adored grandchildren; Eric, Colleen, Rachael, Nathaniel, Kathleen, Joshua, Jillian, and the late Evan. She left many loved great-grandchildren; Madelyn, Maddox, Annabelle, Autumn, and Dennis. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Melilo and many nieces and nephews she held dear. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; Anita, Jack, Chuck, George, Dick, Ginger, and Peter. Jane happened to fall in love with the charm of the little town of Bowling Green and cherished her time spent with family in the old Victorian house on the corner. She enjoyed her career as a drive-through teller in Ladysmith before retiring from Union Bank and Trust. Jane loved her family and friends dearly, had the best sense of humor, gave whole-hearted hugs and kisses, and had the most infectious laugh (as her family affectionately referred to as a cackle). Although she is gone from our sight, her memory will never be forgotten. Jane was so special to all that knew her and she will be greatly and forever missed.
