Garland L. Childress, affectionately known as “Bo,” entered into eternal peace on November was born on July 22, 1956, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to the late David and Doris Childress. Moving with his family to Alexandria, Virginia, at a young age, Bo attended Alexandria Public Schools. From early on, he held a variety of jobs, developing a strong work ethic that eventually led him to become self-employed in the construction industry. With his natural ability to construct nearly anything, Bo quickly gained a reputation as a skilled and dedicated craftsman, known for leading projects with precision and pride. His excitement to see a project come to life from design to completion fueled his passion and earned him high regard in the construction community. Bo was recognized as extended family by many. In his spare time, Bo could usually be found lifting weights or taking on small personal construction projects. Known for his boundless energy and creativity, he might just build a picnic table on a whim or take on a new project for fun. His adventurous nature led him to explore the community on his bicycle or scooter, often riding for miles to get from place to place. Bo’s presence will be deeply missed by his friends, especially his business partner and close friend Gerald Coleman, who was like a brother to him, and by his many adopted nieces and nephews. Bo brought enjoyed having a good time when gathering with others. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his extended family and community lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
