Louis Calvin Tate Jr (Wootsie) of Colonia Beach VA passed away September 12, 2024 at his home in Lake Anna in Mineral Va. He was born in Colonial Beach in 1934, the youngest of five children to Louis Calvin Tate Sr, and Maude Ferrell Miller Tate of Westmoreland County, VA and Colonial Beach Va. He is survived by his 5 children and their families – Louis Calvin Tate III of St Petersburg Fla, Ivey Rae Tate of South Carolina, Timothy Wayne Tate of Horntown VA, Wendy Ella Tate Perez of Severn Md, Victor Tate of Aldie Va, and stepson David Minnick. He is also survived by one sister, Lois Tate Nash of Callao, Va. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, and by his three sisters: Delma Tate Grigsby Fore of King George and Fredericksburg VA, Jesse Tate Allensworth of King George, VA and Alma Tate Roussell of Avenue Md He was also preceded in death by six half-siblings: Frances Worrell Tate, Ira Brown Worrell Jr, Stuart Worrell, Ralph Latane Worrell, Morris Clairborne Worrell, and Lewis World. “Mr. Tate” lived and worked in Virginia and Maryland before settling at Lake Anna, VA. He was proud to be a master electrician. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, his musical talent and songwriting, and his love of life. A private funeral service will be held Thursday Dec 12, 2024 at noon in the family cemetery at Rollins Fork, Va. A service and celebration of life will follow to be held in the Chapel of Storke Funeral Home at 131 Third Street, Colonial Beach VA 22443.
