May 14, 1958 - January 2, 2025 A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, January 10, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church, Bowling Green. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Shumansville. Immediately following the burial, a reception will be held at Bowling Green Baptist Church. The family would like everyone to dress warmly and comfortably for the service. David Gary Cooper, 66 of Bowling Green, VA, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, in Mechanicsville after a long and courageous battle against lung cancer. David was born in Richmond and grew up in Shumansville. He was a member of Landowner’s Hunt Club, Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, and had retired after 31 years of dedicated service working for VDOT. He was devoted to his beautiful wife and loved his family and friends. He also loved deer hunting, golfing, American muscle cars, NASCAR racing, antiquing, metal detecting, gardening, playing poker, town hall dances, annual beach trips, watching the “Stories”, family dinners, many pets (cats and dogs), and following sport teams (Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Dodgers, VT Hokies, and VCU Rams). He was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl and Lucy Mae Cooper. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cynthia “Cindy” Elliott Cooper; his son, Brandon Cooper (Hillary); his daughter, Cassandra Talamantes (Christian); his brother, Irvin Earl Cooper (Mary); his sister, Dianna Chinault; and many family members and friends.
