It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis E. Fantana, a beloved father, grandfather, uncle and a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Dennis passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on October 22, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, Dennis dedicated 20 years of his life to serving his county with honor in the U.S. Navy. Throughout his service, he rose to the rank of Petty Officer First Class, earning the respect and admiration of his peers and superiors. His commitment to duty, his strong work ethic, and his leadership left an indelible mark on all who served with him. After retiring from the Navy, he spent 20 years with DFAS continuing his work with finance. After his second retirement, he enjoyed spending time pursing hobbies that brought him joy and feeling “ducky”- especially his love for movies, golf, and savoring a cold Blue Moon with friends and family. A loving father and grandfather, Dennis cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren. His guidance, humor and strength shaped the lives of all who were fortunate to know him. He was also a beloved uncle and great-uncle, a source of wisdom, laughter and love to his family. Dennis is survived by his children: Sean (Nicole) and Shannon Questel (Tony); grandchildren: David, Aidan Questel, Kyleigh Questel, Hailey and Vincent; nieces Kristen Korkor (Christopher) and Heather Smith (Clint); great-uncle to Jocelyn, Caleb, Quinn, and Silas; former wife and good friend Pam. He was preceded in death by his parents Eronim “George” and Margaret “Peggy”; beloved sisters Ann and Joann Stepp and brother George. A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Honor Flight Network.
