Brenda Sue Young

Brenda Sue Young, 75, of King George passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

From a young age, Brenda’s love for God shaped her life. She traveled with her family as a child, singing gospel music and even performing on the radio. A gifted musician, she could play nearly any instrument, but her true talent shone on the piano and guitar. She continued to lead her family in church, singing and praising God.

Brenda cherished her family deeply and absolutely adored her husband, Roger. With a warm and welcoming spirit, she never met a stranger and brought joy to those around her. Since 2019, she bravely battled dementia, yet her kind and loving nature remained ever present. She was truly one of a kind.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Eunice Rose Thomas, her father, Alvin Thomas, and her beloved daughter, Teresa McDowney.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roger L. Young; children, Dale Young (Mary) of Fredericksburg, Melissa Brown (Eddie) of King George, and Angie Young of King George; as well as her son in law, Kevin McDowney of Colonial Beach; one brother, Stanley Thomas (Maxine) of Rock House, WV; grandchildren, Dustin (Brittany), Alesha (Kevin), Timothy, Brandon, Brian, Nathaniel (Parker), Tiffany (Colten), Christopher, and Serenity; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Storke Funeral Home, King George. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Tuesday, February 25 at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Historyland Memorial Park and Arboretum, King George.
