Anna Elizabeth Nelson found peace in the arms of Jesus on May 21, 2025.

Anna was the first daughter of Steve and Angela Nelson, joining this world June 28, 1998 in the early morning hours of Irving Tx. She was a loving older sister to Sarah; and preceded in death by her sister, Rachel Faith. She is survived by her grandparents, Frank and Arlene Nelson, and many aunts, uncles and cousins who love her.

Anna was homeschooled from kindergarten through high school, and her education was enriched by a deep love for creativity and her parents’ passion for the word of God. Her love of learning followed her past her graduation from Paradise Homeschool Academy. She studied ministry leadership at Ascent College and felt a calling to vocational ministry.

Anna’s faith in Jesus Christ was an integral part of her life. She accepted Christ at the young age of 3 and was baptized at 5, but it was her rededication to the Lord and baptism in 2022 that marked a significant chapter in her spiritual journey. Her family is forever grateful for the impact of Mercy Multiplied, where Anna attended a residential treatment and discipleship program. She grew stronger in her faith there, and her testimony continues to inspire others. Anna was also an active member of Bethel Assembly of God in Oldtown, Maryland, where she found connection and purpose. It is among her church family that her Celebration of Life service will be held.

Anna was passionate about mental health advocacy, particularly for young people. As a member of Celebrate Recovery, she not only faithfully attended meetings but also traveled to share her story of hope and resilience. She was a mental health ambassador for her Celebrate Recovery group, and her heart for helping others led her to complete training as a youth mental health coach with Light University. Anna’s life was defined by her unwavering hope in Christ, exemplified by her favorite scripture:

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!’” – Lamentations 3:22-24 NLT

Anna had an incredible capacity for creativity and enjoyed expressing herself through art and poetry. She was particularly known for her famous ginger snap cookies, which brought delight to many. A lover of music, Anna found that melodies could often speak to her heart more than words. Though not a musician herself, her appreciation for various genres of music was a significant part of who she was.

Her love of learning was another defining characteristic. Anna enjoyed documentaries and found comfort in the simple pleasure of watching NBC sitcoms. She had a curious mind, always eager to explore new topics and ideas, which made her a deeply reflective and thoughtful person.

Anna was also a fierce competitor, especially when it came to board games. Her friends and

family will remember her not only for her sharp wit and creativity but for her loyalty as a friend. She had a unique perspective on life and a gentle spirit that drew others to her.

Anna’s battle with mental health was a long and fierce one, and though it was too much for her to bear in this life, she now rests in the peace of Heaven, free from fear, pain, and darkness. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is forever in the arms of the Lord she loved so deeply, reunited with her little sister and beloved Papa and Gram.

Anna leaves behind a family and a community who love her dearly. She is so very missed by her best and most handsome kitty, Mento, who was a constant balm to Anna’s heart. She will always be remembered for her love of “her people”, her creativity, and her unwavering faith in Jesus. A private graveside service will be held at Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
