Tommy Wright gained his wings on June 20, 2025, and was instantly reunited in Heaven with his beloved son, Tyler Wright—a reunion he longed for and now finally has. After a long and courageous battle, Tommy passed away from surgical complications, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and quiet resilience. Tommy dedicated more than 30 years of his life as a lineman with Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, where he was admired for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and quiet dedication to serving his community. Outside of work, Tommy’s heart was in the soil and the water. He was known far and wide for his bountiful garden—always eager to share the fruits of his labor with friends, neighbors, and anyone in need. Fishing brought him great peace, especially when casting a line alongside his grandson, Easton. Tommy is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Dare, who stood by his side through every season of life. He also leaves behind his cherished daughter, Jessica Howard (Andy), and his son, Doug Cooper (Jeanie). He will be fondly remembered by his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Wright-Akers (Josh), and by his grandchildren, Allison Mauck (Dalton), Easton Wright, Kelsey Perrin (Brandon), Kassidy Stanley and Kolby Cooper; great-grandchildren, Bryce Mauck, Evie Perrin and Bentley, Emy and Naomi Stanley and two special bonus grandchildren, Karleigh and Kaleb Akers, who brought him great joy; his sister, Sandra Fields (Beady); his brothers, Lee Wright (Denise) and Jimmy Wright (Cindy) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Francis Wright, son, Tyler Wright, and his brother, Steve Wright, whose memories live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved them. Tommy’s presence will be deeply missed, but the legacy of his love, strength, and generosity will live on in the lives of those he touched. We like to imagine Tyler greeting him with open arms and giving him the grand tour of Heaven—probably with a few jokes along the way. The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Thursday, June 26th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, June 27th at 11:00am in Bowling Green Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Lakewood Cemetery. The family requests everyone to dress casual for both the visitation and funeral. Following the burial, the family invites friends and family to a reception to be held at the REC Bowling Green Office Auditorium. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Appendix Cancer Research Foundation (acpmp.org), which the family supported in memory of Tyler. |
