Patsy Ann Spies, born on August 16, 1948, in Wytheville, Virginia, passed away peacefully July 3, 2025 in Colonial Beach, Virginia.
Pat was the daughter of the late Andrew and Dorothy King. She grew up in a large, close knit family and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dick Spies; her stepson, Rick Spies; and her brothers, Larry King, John King, and Harry King.
She is survived by her siblings, Elva Figeracion and Tom King; her stepchildren, Kurt Spies and Lisa Olsen; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; her devoted boyfriend, Jim Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
Pat married Dick in 1977. Together they built a life full of adventure and companionship, living first in Laurel, Maryland, before settling in North Carolina, where they loved boating together. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and ran a shop with a friend selling her treasured finds.
Later, Pat chose to move to Colonial Beach, settling on Irving Avenue to enjoy her days watching the river flow by from her sunny porch. She retired from Arbitron Company after more than 20 years of dedicated service in the early 2000s.
A true NASCAR fan, Pat rarely missed a race. She also had a deep love for animals and doted on her four legged “babies”, who brought her so much joy.
A funeral service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at 11am on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Storke Funeral Home, King George immediate followed by interment at Historyland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the funeral service.
Pat will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
