Josephine “Jo” Rollins

Josephine “Jo” Rollins, 83 of King George County, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Mechanicsville.  A daughter to the late Ernest T. and Ethel Fridley Winston, Jo was a lifelong Virginian.  She grew up in Portsmouth and later moved to King George where she was a resident for more than 50 years.  Jo was very active in her community including membership with the James Madison Garden Club and King George Book Club.  She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists.  Jo enjoyed reading, playing word games, sewing, needlework and embroidery.  She especially enjoyed keeping in touch with her friends and family.

Survivors include daughters Cindy Callis (John) and Sheila Burns; grandson James Roberson (Jill); great-grandchildren Emma, Margaret and Sutton Roberson; and twin sister Ernestine “Tine” Kerlin.  In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded by her husband John Weston Rollins; son John Douglas Rollins; sisters Janet Carter and Jackie Hogge; and brother Thornton Winston.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Friday, January 22 at Storke Funeral Home, King George Chapel.  A funeral service will be held 1pm on Saturday, January 23 at Round Hill Baptist Church, King George, in the Fellowship Hall.  The Rev. Josh Thompson will officiate.  Interment to follow at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery.
