Lucy left us early morning February 8th after a brief illness. Was a devoted wife and mother to children Duane (Jennifer), daughter Cindy (Gene), and grandchildren Sarah Collie Tremblay (Gerald), Alex Collie and Christopher Seidle. Lucy was born in Toronto, SD December 1926 into a large farming family of nine children and nicknamed “Dolly” as a child by her siblings. Adventurous and full of energy, Lucy set off to Alaska where she met her future husband Richard Collie, a United States Air Force pilot. Married in May 1949 they began their journey, stationed at Lackland AFB, TX and later Whiteman AFB, MO. After 25 years and two children later, they settled in Alexandria, VA in 1974 and remained in Fairfax County thereafter. Lucy’s love of American antiques inspired her to establish the Keeping Room Furniture in Old Town Alexandria, VA in the late 1970’s. The business later moved to its current location in Alexandria, VA. She retired in 2004 to enjoy gardening in her home and continue antiquing. Lucy was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard in November 2017. She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery as burial assignments become available. Her sister Gloria Perry of Pierre, SD survives her as well as many nieces and nephews throughout Wisconsin and South Dakota. |
