Dr. Robert E. Strange, 87, died November 12, 2020, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He leaves behind his wife, Linda, family members and friends. Dr. Strange was born in Marion, Indiana and graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He served in the United States Navy for twenty years, retiring with the rank of Captain. He served in Vietnam and treated U.S. troops on the hospital ship U.S.S. Repose. His long Naval career of twenty years also included service in the Antarctic and writing multiple research articles. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as Director of the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Fairfax, Virginia and opened a private practice. He also served as a healthcare provider in the state of Virginia in various capacities for many years. Dr. Strange was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Dorothy Strange, his former wife, Mildred Chase Strange, and their son, Paul Robert Strange. Survivors include their three daughters, Cynthia Douglass (John), Jennifer Mackesey (Dan), and Stephanie Ruth (Mike); seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his wife Linda, two stepchildren, Beth Williams (Lance) and Rob Edwards (Tara), four step grandchildren; and his sister, Rebecca. Services will be conducted in May 20th at 3pm at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, with full military honors.
