Carl Leonard Raich, 50, passed away at his home in King George, Virginia on Thursday, April 15, 2021. His lifelong commitment to serving others began with his dedication to the volunteer fire department in his hometown of Kent, New York where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, Keri Lynn Luongo in 1993. Carl continued his life of service by joining the US Army in 1991. He faithfully served for 22 years and retired as a First Sergeant from Fort Belvoir, Virginia in 2013. Carl’s distinguished military service was reflected in numerous awards and distinctions. Most notable were the Knowlton Award for excellence in the Military Intelligence Corps and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Upon his retirement Carl, Keri and their sons settled in King George where he continued serving others in the King George Sheriff’s department as a member of the Court Services division from 2014-2018. Carl is preceded in death by his parents Ottocar and Nancy Raich and is survived by his wife of 27 years, his sons Collin and Connor who are both serving in the US Air Force, as well as his brothers Russell, Craig and Matthew. The family will receive visitors at Storke Funeral Home on Monday, April 19, 2021 between 3-5pm and suggest that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. |
