Sallie J. Carter, 95, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, William Henry and Elizabeth Carter, where she had resided for the past 3 years. For most of her life, starting at age 16 when he left home, Sallie lived and worked in Fredericksburg, VA. She was the manager of the Greyhound Bus Terminal in Fredericksburg. She also worked at many restaurants, and was a waitress at the Hot Shoppes for more than 30 years. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her own gardens, and was fond of animals. She also was a member of Bethany Baptist Church Although she never married, Sallie was a dedicated sister and hard worker. She will be remembered as a kind and loving person to all. She was the oldest of the children born to the late Joseph and Daisy Carter. In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by two sisters Myrtle Carter and Mary Dorothy Carter. She is survived by 3 brothers, Thomas, William Henry and Earl Carter; and one sister, Virginia P. Hart. A funeral will be held at 11 am Wednesday, July 21, in the Chapel at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with burial following in Countyline Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Pallbearers will be Wayne Carter, Charles Carter, Steve Carter, Anthony Carter, Jeff Carter, and Roderick Carter. The family requests that memorial contributions in Sallie’s honor be directed to the charity of your choice.
