William Nelson Carter

William Nelson Carter, 99, of Ruther Glen died Monday, July 19, 2021 at the home of his daughter. Mr. Carter was a lifelong member of Zion Christian where he had served as deacon and elder. He had retired from Dominion Power and was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the 77^th Infantry Division, 302^nd Medical Battalion. He was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Viola S. Carter and a granddaughter, April Samuel. He is survived by two children, Samuel N. Carter and Martha Samuel (Warren); three grandchildren, Rachel Bennett, Delaney Carter and Alex Samuel as well as five great grandchildren. Nelson was the ultimate “fix anything person” and could always create something out of nothing.  He loved his God and his family and enjoyed helping whatever needs there were in his community. The celebration of his life will be held 11 am Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Zion Christian Church, Beaverdam.  The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday at Zion Christian Church.
