William (Bill) Irvin Heath, Jr., 94, of King George County, VA passed into his heavenly rest on Monday, September 13, 2021. He was born in Richmond, VA on July 5, 1927 to the late Elizabeth Boller and William I. Heath. He attended Richmond public schools and graduated from high school in Prince George’s County, MD. He also attended the University of MD University College. On January 11, 1948, he married Margaret DeCampo. In 1950, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves and was called up to serve in the Korean War. He completed his military service with the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked in the railroad industry for the Washington Terminal Company as a “carman”. He later was employed by the Chesapeake Telephone Company of Washington DC as a Central Office Technician and retired after 30 years of service. His final employment was with the Prince George’s County, MD Police Department and retired from there as well. He was a member of the Communication Workers of America Local 2336 and the American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206. Bill always remained an avid steam-rail fan and home vegetable gardener. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife Margaret. He is survived by his son Christopher S. Heath, wife Linda, and stepson Tyler Markward; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who reside in the Richmond area. A service will be held at 10 am Monday, October 4, at Peace Lutheran Church. Interment will be with full military honors at 1 pm in Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund, 5590 Kings Hwy., King George, VA 22485. |
