Ebben Joseph Yazel died unexpectedly on the morning of October 23, 2021 at his home in Colonial Beach, VA. He was born in Charlottesville on May 3, 1983, where he enjoyed his first nine years before moving to Roanoke. He graduated from Cave Spring High School in 2001, and then earned an Associates Degree in Business from Virginia Western Community College in 2004 and his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Roanoke College in 2007. Pursuit of career opportunities took Ebben back to Charlottesville and then on to Northern Virginia. For the past ten years Ebben grew into a position as Accounts Manager with Carahsoft; a large company which works with U.S. Military, Defense, Law Enforcement and Intelligence agencies, supplying security software systems to fit their specialized needs. During his youth Ebben was active in recreation league basketball and baseball teams while also enjoying other sports and school activities. He played outfield on the Cave Spring Knights baseball team. He was a champion at Fantasy Football, an avid video gamer – playing with friends via the internet regularly; he also enjoyed Paint Ball and Disc Golf. From those early days and throughout his life he enjoyed great and lasting friendships. Those friends recall him as bright, energetic, gregarious, fun-loving, loyal and caring. Yes, they also remember him as strong-willed. He applied those same qualities in his hard-work ethic. His brother and close friends have described him as “full bore at life, full bore work and play. He lived life to the fullest.” Left to grieve the loss of Ebben are his parents, Dr. Joe and Mrs. Cindy Yazel of Roanoke, his brother Casey, wife Caitlin and nephew William of Lebanon, NH, and his special love, Virginia (Pepper) Foley in Colonial Beach. He also leaves an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, widely spread about the country. The many dear friends he enjoyed all know who they are and will not be individually listed. All of us will miss his smile, his laugh, his energy, his ideas and his love. Storke Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, VA handled Ebben’s final arrangements and cremation. Family and friends are planning memorial “send-offs” in Colonial Beach and Roanoke. Family members express their gratitude to the Colonial Beach Rescue Squad for trying to save Ebben’s life. |
