I have known Randy since I was a teenager, my friends and I would play basketball at the church in the evenings after school and on weekends. Where I did attend Round Oak Church a few Sundays when I was younger, catching the bus mostly driven by Eugene Sale, I had stopped attending by the time I was ten years old. Meeting Randy outside at the church the first time while playing basketball, I knew that I had met someone different. He didn’t direct us of what to do or not to do, he spoke to me as if we had knew each other all our lives. He let us have run of the church, trusted us, and allowed us to enter the church for water or the bathroom anytime we wanted while we were there. Not a pass or trust that is often given to a group of young teenagers in the early 90’s. Randy had helped our family in services and time of loss of my grandparents during 89′ to 93′ but the first time I really met him was outside at the basketball court. Little did I know, he would be marrying my soon to be wife and I just four years later. That February 19th 1994, after many consultant meetings with Randy, there stood a young man at 19 years old in a little room, off to the side in the church who was staring at the world in front of him, but realizing he also didn’t know much about it, especially the fact that you check your wedding attire before the day of your wedding. Twenty minutes before my wedding, I realize that I do not have my pants to my tuxedo for my wedding. Randy pops in, he says, now William , I know we may be a “lil” different in size but I think I have a pair that you can wear to get you to this ceremony. Randy comes back from his home next door with a pair of pants that match my attire. I try them on and to everyone’s surprise, they are gonna work. Not every day does your Church Reverend lend you a pair of pants to get married in. But that was our forever bond. I was married that day while wearing Randy’s pants. We laughed about that everytime we ran into each other. Randy’s was there for me and my family on multiple occasions throughout my life, family services, marriages, and there if we ever needed someone to talk to. As I said, I knew I had met someone special as a teenager and he did nothing but build on that thought as long as I knew him and everytime we spoke. Randy helped me through one of the hardest times of my life in losing my father in 1996 at 22 years old. Where a son has the utmost admiration and respect for his father and grandfather’s, love for his mother and grandmothers, only two other people outside of my family have garnered that type of respect and admiration from me, by showing me just how genuine of human being they can be and always treating me as family, Mr. Dwight Storke and of course Mr. Randy Newsome. Randy helped this community, Round Oak Church, my friends and family, for four decades or better, and the entire area is better for it. Where I did not go to church on Sunday’s I did enteract with Randy throughout the years during different events and he always treated you as you had just seen him yesterday. I always joked and told him I took the John Walton , of the Waltons television show approach to church, I believe, I am secure in my faith, I just didn’t need to congregate to secure my faith. Randy would smile and say, we would still love to have you on Sunday. I think in a way some friends of mine and I also believed Randy would always be there for the day we returned to Round Oak, the day when we as an individual said, you know what, this is the day, we are going to go to church, going to see Randy and sit in on his word on that Sunday , the Sunday that we finally decided to go or it was our time to be there. I guess Randy taught me another few life lessons that I thought I already had known, but in the end he reminded me that I have not mastered anything yet in the fact that none of us should have procrastinated or taken for granted that it would all stay the same for us until we wanted to make a change, to where the opportunity was in front of us, the opportunity to actually be a member of Randy’s Sunday Service has come and gone with Randy. In the admiration that I have for him, I am ashamed that I took for granted that I had all the time in the world to be part of his Church while he was there. I regret not being there and for him when I could. Where he was always there for us. It is my hope, that for his service to this community, this area, Round Oak Church , all of our friends and family, that Round Oak looks into naming a part of or Chapel of the church after Randy to forever cement his legacy and what he meant to Round Oak and this community. You were a great man Randy, a great friend to me and my family, you will be missed. I hope your family finds peace and comfort in time and someone has given them the words to the way of peace, the same words you have delivered successfully to so many over the years. Thank you Randy, we are forever grateful ?, Prayers to you and your family. William Stanley Jr. & Family

Round Oak has always held a special place in my heart. My Grandmother, great aunts and uncles and my Aunt Della and Uncle Lin (passed in 2019) were all lifetime members. I have many a fond memory being a young child and hearing Randy’s sermons and his kind welcoming manner. He served the Lord his whole life even through difficult years. I last saw him in 2019 at my Uncles funeral and he remembered me. A great man who is resting with Jesus, what a comforting thought.

Randy was a very nice man and a great pastor. he will be missed by all that knew him. He had been sick for a long time and we know now he is resting with the Lord and out of pain. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. We will see you again one day Randy but until that day rest in peace with the Good Master.
