I’ve met LTC Green or how I called him D when he was stationed in Germany. We shared a friendship of more than 20 years. We lost contact for a few years but reconnected again a few month before his passing in Ansbach Germany for some coffee. He was a wonderful person inside and out. My deepest condolences to his family! RIP D

He was such a mentor to me and the JROTC program! He was the reason why most cadets stayed in the program because his inspirational speeches motivated and impacted my peers around me! He was all about making things happen! Much love to his family!

Thank you ret Lt Col Green for your service! I just learned of his passing today. I am sad but grateful I had the pleasure of knowing such an incredible human being. He was the JROTC instructor at Hillsborough HS from 2018-2021, Tampa, FL. LTC Green was a leader, a warrior, a true hero in my eyes. He was passionate about educating our youth and preparing them for a military future. I remember how he made school history by taking 4 cadets to Holland for the 100 mile march in July 2019. He was determined to take them and he did so! He also helped make history for HHS to be the first ever US-based high school to participate in the march. In my last communication with him he told me how he missed his students and that even though he wasn’t a Terrier alumn, he felt like HHS was his alma mater and that he would forever be part of the Terrier family. He will be missed. Our condolences to his family from the HHS Alumni Association. May he RIP.

Here is Lt Col Green with our cadets that he took to Nijmegen, Holland, for the annual 100-mile March. It was a really big deal and LTC Green was sure this trip was going to happen so our cadets would have this experience. It was also a major milestone for the school and for the history of the march. We were the first and only US-based high school JROTC to participate the march with over 44,000 people from all over the world. We thank him for taking our cadets there and for being so determined to do so! He will be missed….

I did not know LTC Green personally but as a teacher of Dependents at Quantico High School, I know among my officer and non-com parents at Quantico that he would have been viewed as an outstanding warrior and enviable leader in all matters he directed under his command. As a teacher, reading his obit, I was amazed at his résumé, deducting from that list what an outstanding Army Officer he was! He kept his “humanity” as evidenced by his career in retirement. My admiration for this self-made warrior and citizen is great. My only regret personally is that I did not KNOW him and experience his physical presence in my 25 years at Quantico. What a loss in today’s society and especially in education that we can no longer benefit from his talents and humanity. My condolences to his family and the military members who benefited from his leadership and his personal touch.
