Katie and I send our deepest condolences to Diana and all the family and friends on the loss of Bill Long. I knew Bill for many years while we were on active duty and after. His friendliness stands out to me as well as the commitment he had to his sailors and students. He respected them as much as they did him. We pray for your comfort now and in the months to come. May memories of him bring smiles to your faces. Sincerely, Mike and Katie Broz

I am profoundly grateful to Bill for his unwaivering friendship. I have known him for just over 8 uears but feels more like a lifetime..thats a true friend. I too met Bill, but didnt know it, at Portsmouth Naval. Just after I met him in 2014 we came to realize we were both there, he as an instructor and me as a student!. As already said Bill,my friend, fair winds and following seas and I will see you somewhere over the horizon. Miss you Friend.

It is with great sadness that I have learned of Bill’s passing. We were stationed together as Instructor’s at the Naval School of Health Sciences and later worked together at Maryview. He was a great friend, mentor, shipmate and my sponsor during Chief’s initiation. I will forever remember and cherish his infectious laugh, sense of humor and practical jokes. Although we both ended up retiring and moving to different areas of the country, I have always carried a part of Bill with me. Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Diana.

This wonderful human being. A second, more like my 1 1/2 father. He was apart of so many childhood, adulthood, and now (for me) motherhood memories. From me loving and adoring him when I was 14 years old.. to now my daughter who loves and adores him at 4 years old. He will never know the amount of lives he has touched and changed for the better. He has always been an Angel in my eyes and now one in everyone’s. I will cherish every single memory and hold it close to my heart. This whole family… Bill, Diana, Christina, Candice.. they are a family who you would dream to be a part of, and I was lucky enough to make the cut. I love all of you!
