How sad to lose such a great gentleman, craftsman, and all-around good guy. I first knew Carlton when he ran the Typewriter Shop at the Dahlgren Base many years ago. We kept in touch over the years and worked together as members of K.G. County Water Board. He will be sorely missed.

To the Griffin Family I only met your dad a few short times living here on Roseland Road. He had a long and very interesting life. I am sorry you need to say goodbye to him now on this earth. He is in Heaven with God and at peace for the rest of eternity. Rest assured he will be waiting in Gods Heaven to welcome his family there as our time on earth is fleeting but Gods Heaven is eternal. My deepest condolences to everyone.

Dear Mary Lynne, Janet and Amy – Clift and I are so sorry to learn about the passing of your Father. He (and your Mother) were wonderful, kind-hearted people and I always enjoyed my visits to their home. In later years, I always looked forward to seeing your Father at KG Historical Society meetings and functions. Clift came to know your Father at the McDonalds “old guys” breakfast club and always enjoyed talking to him. May you find peace in knowing that your Mother and Father are together again and in the arms of our Lord. Sincerely, Judi and Clift

Although I am long gone from King George County, I have a book of memories of special times. Before I was born, my father performed the ceremony for the Griffins when he was pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church. A favorite memory is being invited to a picnic and boat ride at their lovely home on the banks of the Potomac. Such warm hospitality! Some memories you carry with you throughout life and when you pull them off the shelf and dust them off, you feel a wide smile in your heart. The Griffins are those examples of ones who gave those loving memories that last a life time to others.

The world is a different place without Carlton – even though a whole lot of people will carry a bit of him in our hearts. Certainly Roseland Road seems off balance somehow. Our hearts go out to you all. I’m so sorry circumstances prevent our gathering together to celebrate Carlton. ?

I will miss his smile and warning me to quit smoking(which I have). It put a smile on my face when he would wave to me on the bus, morning and afternoon. It has been a pleasure to know him and meet all of you.

Dear Janet, Mary Lynne, and Amy and families, My sympathy on the loss of your father. He and your Mom were wonderful people. I would often run into them when they both worked on the base and they were always cheerful and happy and proud of their girls. My prayers and thoughts for you as you continue your life’s journeys with your dear parents’ love in your hearts, I pray that God will comfort and bless you with many happy memories of times past.
