My dear Brabants, Karlene was the first person to befriend me when I came to King George. She held my hand through many trying times and I will be forever grateful for her love and caring. Karlene was always doing for others and did not want anyone to know when she had helped someone. She helped many she didn’t even know. No one will ever know all the good she did for this community and all the people she helped. I will never forget all the times we laughed and a few when we cried. Going together to football games saved my life and I have many wonderful memories. She was the one person I could always count on and I know she was that for others. She will always be in my heart and a big part of my life. I will miss knowing she was always there. My love and prayers to all of you. especially to my “boyfriend,” Norm. I look forward to celebrating her life with you all.

I am sad to hear this news. Karlene was a lovely person and a good friend fo my mother’s. They played bridge together. I remember her singing in the choir at St. Paul’s. One night when my mom and I were in a car that died in a parking lot, Karlene went out of her way to take us home. She was a good person and will be missed.
