We were deeply saddened to learn of Hardy’s passing. Hardy and I played basketball on the Cardinal’s 2nd place finish in the VA State basketball finals 1962. We had many great times together in high sxhool, VA Tech and beyond. Harry’s family always treated me with respect that I will never forget. Our deepest sympathy to all of the family. Nothing but fond memories exist from our long lasting friendship.

So very sorry for your loss of Hardy. We admired him so very much and his absence is felt deeply. He was a kind man with a keen wit. We loved just talking and listening to him. His love for his church was great. His love for the Hokies was fun and fabulous. He will be missed by many and remembered by all.

My recollections of Hardy were always at Uncle Randolph and Aunt Virginia’s house. It was never an event per se that I remembered about him but rather an energy. Hardy projected an energy filled with laughter, inclusion, goodness, mischief. He was a pleasure to be around. My heart is with all of you who will miss him so.

Lee, Anne Hunter, and Tom, We are both so sorry for your loss. Hardy was a special friend and was always there with a kind word and to help out if you needed something. Even in these last years when he had health issues he could always think of a story to tell that we loved to hear. He will be missed by so many,. Go Hokies. Love, Ronnie and Jeanne

To the entire Dunnington Family: It seems like yesterday to me when I first met Hardy…remembering the tennis days with Judge Peyton Farmer that led to golfing days (as we aged and our knees felt the stress of tennis). Hardy had that great sense of humor, smirk and chuckle. Hardy was a true friend, a caring individual, that loved his family dearly. Hardy spoke his mind in a sometimes diplomatic way and of course, VT was a topic you should not encroach upon unless you felt the same as he did, lol….It seemed to me that everyone in Caroline county knew Hardy and Hardy knew them. I am sure everyone has a “Hardy” story…We will all remember and treasure our memories. May God Bless and shed his grace and comfort to all during this difficult time. Rest in Peace my friend…

We are so sorry for your loss. Hardy was a friend to everyone. While out walking, we would meet on the street. He would stop to talk or just wave as we passed by. He would always acknowledge us in some way. Hardy was a kind and friendly gentleman. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers to Lee, Tom and Anne Hunter.

This man is going to be missed by so many! A truly wonderful man. Hardy gave so much to the Bowling Green and Caroline communities. Sometimes leaving one committee meeting to run to another. He offered friendship and help to many. Lee and family, our prayers go out to you.

I was privileged to be a schoolmate of Hardy’s as well as a team mate on the Caroline Cardinals basketball team. Hardy spent a weekend on our farm and we had a blast. A few years later I married Jane Gary from Kenbridge. Hardy’s mother, Dorothy Hardy Dunningon was from nearby Victoria and I became good friends with her nephew, Hardy’s cousin, Dickie Harris. Until we meet again, Thomas Hardy, loved knowing you, love you dearly..

Lee, Tom and Anne Hunter, please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of a great husband and father. Hardy helped both of our mothers so many times over the years.. We will miss his waves and smiling face on the times we would meet him on the hill. Words could never express the gratitude and comfort we felt knowing Hardy was right up the road in times of need. I hope that you can find peace and comfort in knowing how much he meant to so many in the Caroline community. Each of you are in our prayers during this difficult time.

Hardy will be long remembered for his quick wit, his humor, his style, but his kind heart and his loyal friendship will always be foremost in my mind. Lee, Tom and Anne Hunter, my heart aches for you and my prayers are with you. May wonderful memories sustain you until we all meet again. Hardy was one of a kind! I will miss him. Bowling Green will miss him. Lynn Jordan
