I had the great pleasure of knowing and working with Captain Smith while he was assigned to Binh Thuy. Edward was a true professional and gentle spirit. He was edifying to simply be around. I remember the uplift to my day when I saw that “Ed” had been assigned to fly in my aircraft. I am so very sorry that he has “flown west.” This is a flight we must all take. God Bless the Family for this loss.

Visitation & Funeral Service Information
A funeral Mass will be held in the Old Post Chapel at Ft Myer, at a time to be announced. Burial, with full Navy honors, will follow in Arlington National Cemetery.
