Hi Tyler and Josh, I was surprised with the news of your Mom’s passing. I think we emailed with her about a year ago. I think I understand a little what you and your family have experienced because my dad died of lung cancer almost 6 years ago but I know there is nothing that can take that pain away that Josh talked about in your Mom’s memorial. I also believe Romans 8:28 is totally true in these moments. I have learned that we, their children, must honor their memory with what they taught us as a parent. The strongest memory I have of your Mom is that during one of the many mission trips to El Salvador, we were in a street of San Salvador doing the Gospel skits and everything, and there was a drug addict guy who had come to talk to your mom and she treated him with so much love that she putted her hand on his cheek and showed to him HIS love that even I felt it in that scene that I was witnessing. Keep sharing that kind of love as I imagine you both do. I only have good memories of Vicki and you guys and I pray that He will lift up your spirits with His peace and joy. Take care! I don’t think you remember me by my name Jose Hector Elias, but you all knew me as Chepe. (Pamella shared with me the link to the memorial on facebook and I just saw it today)

Dear Kenny, Abigail and Family, I am rejoicing today with you all that Vicki is with our dear Lord and Savior, Jesus. I so loved doing Operation Christmas Child with her and traveling to all the many retreats, conferences together and especially our trip to the Philippines. She enjoyed every minute of it and made it a lot of fun for all of us! I know many are now believers in Jesus also because of her continued faithful service and influence. Our deepest prayers are with you all at this time and especially in the coming days. With Christian love, Debbie and Jeff Morgan

Vickie’s life celebration was so inspiring. The legacy she has left has inspired thousands across the globe and around here. You can see the love of Christ in her family, which was her greatest influence. I can remember teaching with her at fcs and everyday she had a smile and a word of encouragement. If you knew her, you knew she loved the Lord with her whole heart. Having had the privilege of coaching Tyler and Josh, I could see the mentoring and foundation laid by Kenny and Vicki. Vicki’s heart for the gospel will touch many generations. Thank you for living out the true gospel. Our prayers to Kenny, Travis, Brian, Tyler, Josh and their families. May the Lord give you strength and continued encouragement during this time.

Words could never express what Vicki meant to me. She was a powerful influence on my life from a young girl and helped shape who I have become. She taught me about God through youth group, church activities and missions. She taught me about caring for others. I have always been in awe of her genuine care and love. Whenever you spoke to Vicki she would be truly present with you, look you in the eye and hear you. That always made me feel so so loved. She was a strong confident women and leader that was a role model in my life. Although I hadn’t seen her in a while, I felt her as a close part of my life because I’d hear about her all the time from my mom. My mom loved her dearly and cherished her friendship. Thank you for having the online service so that I could celebrate the life of someone who meant so much to me. She will be greatly missed. My prayers are with you all during this time and always.

I remember Vickie from many years ago when I was the longtime Minister of Music at Colonial Beach Baptist Church. She was a dedicated Christian with a delightful personality. She was particularly involved in many areas of our ministry to children. She was a wonderful teacher and she was adored by children of all ages. I extend my heartfelt sympathy and prayers to her family. A life well lived!

Dear ones: Sometimes words are not enough. This feels like one of those times. And at those times we are content to know that God understands our groaning as it states in Romans 8:26. There are so many things you must be feeling today but I hope that what you feel most is loved, remembered and held close to many hearts because you are. Grief never ends… but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love. My daddy taught me long ago, that as long as we keep the happy memories of our loved one close in our heart, share them with others and remember, they really never can leave us. I have tested that over many years and found it true. I am sure you have loads of happy memories of Vickie. Share them, laugh, cry and remember. I pray for strength, peace and joy for your precious family. carol 😉
