I got know Jim over the years from being of his parts guys we quickly became friends over the love of classic vehicles and our mutual friend Jimmy Graves. Jim definitely became one of my favorite customers for joking and kidding it was always a joy to get to visit with him and hear his stories of all his careers. It was a pleasure to know him.

Mr. Gartland was one of our favorites-was always a joy to see. He somehow got the nickname “Trouble” around our office-and I think he loved it when our staff teased him about it. We sure will miss his weekly visits and his smiling face. Prayers for peace and comfort to his loved ones. Dr. Bill, Elly, Millie and Tess ?

Jim, we were so blessed for Dad to have had you for a friend for over 50 years, so many memories, from CCSO functions to Car Shows. Sending prayers for Cindy, Jimmy, and Kim, as they move through the days ahead, we all know the challenges that they will face and hope that God will give them strength. You will be missed by so many. Love you all, Stacie

I had the pleasure of working with Jim Gartland for six years. He was always so helpful to a novice like me. He always had a great sense of humor and could lighten up just about any situation. I sure miss him but I know he’s in a better place. I wish the best to Cindy and Jim’s other family.

I met Jimmy circa 1959 hanging out at the Pa Ave Mighty Mo burger place in SE Washington DC. Jimmy lived close by. I put a Chevy 283 in his first car, a \’55 Chevy all-door retired Yellow cab. His Dad had it painted black and white. Donna did Rosina\’s hair many times. Jimmy was a great guy, He is up there in the big sky, cruizin\’ in his Ford sedan delivery, looking down with that big smile. Our hearts go out to family and friends. Jim & Rosina, since 1958

I first met Jim in 1973 while I was still in the Marines. In 1974 I began my own career at CCSO and was often around Jim on calls and off duty and we became friends. Jim loved the Sheriff’s Office and poured his heart and soul into it. God Bless! Lt DB Wright #86 Ret CCSO aka The General, Las Vegas NV
