I am very sorry to hear of Russ’s passing. Chief Waggy was a wonderful guy whom I admire a lot. When I arrived aboard the USS John Hancock he made a 20 year old kid who wasn’t sure what he had gotten himself into feel at home and welcome. In the 3 years that I served under Chief I learned what it meant to be a good sailor. He had a way of teaching you things without you realizing you were being taught. One year I was stuck on the ship over Christmas and Chief had me over to his place to spend the day with him, Marie, Trista and Brian. I will always remember that Christmas. It meant a lot to me. We had a lot of laughs and good times. I feel honored and blessed to have known and worked under Chief Russell Waggy. He will always have a place in my heart. He will be missed.

I am sorry to hear about Russell. I haven’t seen him or Jeannie since bowling at Dahlgren in late 90’s. He used to work at bowling alley. My thoughts and prayers are with you and his family and friends.
