Frances Hess

April 30, 1961 – March 7, 2022

Frances Dorthea Hess “Doree”, one of the most amazing women to ever walk the earth, was called to Heaven on March 7, 2022.

Frances is survived by her husband, Ray Hess; her sons, Shawn Pickett (Terra) and Christopher Pickett (Dasha); her stepson, Collin Hess; her brothers, Paul Leach, Thuril G. Keller Jr., Michael Keller and Troy Keller; Sisters, Lisa Michelle Keller and Debbi Kelly; Stepmother, Margaret Elaine Keller; Grandchildren, Tinsley, Chesney, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Meredyth, and Henry.

Frances was born on April 30, 1961, in Lynchburg, VA, to the late Janett Maham Keller.  Frances is predeceased by her father, Thuril G. Keller, Sr.  She attended Caroline High School in Milford, VA. Frances joyfully welcomed her two sons on March 27,1979 and February 24,1989. She was blessed with six beautiful grandchildren as they were her “Angels”. She loved her girlfriends like they were her sisters. Deedee, Lisa, Donna, Wanda, Cheryl, to name a few.

On November 24, 2018, Frances married the love of her life, Ray. They enjoyed Nationals baseball games, good laughs, and the love that comes a long once in a lifetime. She loved Ray with everything she had and was treated like the Queen she was and deserved.

Frances was loved by the Caroline County community, where she spent the majority of her life. She ran the local video store in the 1980s-90s before becoming a real estate agent, then finishing her work in service of the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office. She was beloved by everyone who ever had the chance to meet her. No matter the circumstance, Frances always had a smile that lit the room up and she never took life for granted.

Her favorite flowers were Forget Me Nots, and as the flowers name states, no one will ever forget Frances. She loved the simple country life and was always there when you needed a friend. In short, she changed people’s lives for the better. She will be missed by so many.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022, 2:00pm at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, VA, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.  A local reception to follow at Roma’s Italian Restaurant & Pizza.

Frances had a passion for flowers, plants and gardens.  She enjoyed and loved them so much that at one point, she was the president of her garden clud.  Lewis Ginter was Frances’ favorite place to visit throughout the year.  It was her and Ray’s first date, where Ray proposed a couple of years later, and where she enjoyed an annual tradition of visiting during the holidays with as many family members as possible.
