Leota Jane Prindle Hosler “Jane” passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, March 3, 2022. She was 88.

Jane was born August 7, 1933 in Nyack, New York. She was the only child of Alcide Henri Janson and Leota Elizabeth Tremper Janson.

Her first marriage was to the love of her life, Admiral Charles O’Brien Prindle. She later enjoyed a second marriage to Harlan Selden Hosler. Both husbands preceded her in death.

Jane was a devoted Navy wife, supporting and encouraging her first husband’s career, as well as volunteering for many military service organizations. Jane always provided a beautiful and loving home for her 5 children, throughout the over 25 moves required during Charlie’s Naval career.

She enjoyed flowers and gardening, and was an avid nature photographer. She traveled extensively with her second husband, Harlan, where she enjoyed visiting many countries around the world, as well as many places within the United States.

Jane’s life was defined by her devotion to her family and children. Throughout her life, she loved her “little ones,” and when her own children were raised, supported children through a mission in Mississippi, and most recently, orphans and at-risk children in Central America. Her faith in God sustained her and encouraged her throughout her life. Her love of God was evident in the way she lived her life and cared for so many others. She was a good friend, second mother to many, and a listening ear to those in need. Even into her 80’s, she shared this love by starting a bible study for women of all ages at her church, St. Teresa.

She leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by her extensive family: Sharon Joan Bolen (John) of Fayetteville, NC; Cheryl Ann South (Steve) of Monument, Colorado; Brian Charles Prindle (USN, retired) (Marjorie) of Alexandria, Virginia; Kevin John Prindle (USN, retired) (Wendy) of Newbury Park, California; and Debra Jane Prindle (Flint) of Tega Cay, South Carolina, as well as 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her second family: Lee Hosler, Rick Hosler, Barbara Miller and their families.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Orphan Outreach, the organization that Jane supported for many years, serving children in Central America.
