Susan-Jane Dolores Pietras Smith, 47, of Colonial Beach passed unexpectedly on May 4, 2022. She is survived by her devoted husband of twenty-three years, Tony, who was lovingly by her side. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Suzy was born on April 21 in Niagara Falls, NY to Richard and Ruthi Pietras. She graduated from W&L in 1994 and pursued her passions in all things creative – singing and acting in local productions and capturing memories through her photography and journalism. She covered events for the Westmoreland News while speeding around on her red scooter!

Suzy loved her nicknames as much as she loved the people who gave them to her – Aunt Pooh, Sueboo, Suzy, Suzy Q, Suzika, and her personality was as colorful as her dresses, tattoos, and hair.  

She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Steve and Susan Pietras, maternal grandparents Charlie and Drucilla Dolores Doan, and father-in-law John Smith.

In addition to her husband and parents, Suzy is survived by her siblings Mary Fisher (Alex), Katie Allison (Eric), and Richie Pietras (Nikki), and was a loving Aunt Pooh to ‘niblings’ Timmy Smith, Elizabeth (Mike), Chris (Jorah), Timothy, Kyrstin, Hutch, Tre, Charlie, Colson, Shawn, Coren, Jylian, Hailey, Daniel, and James. Suzy also leaves behind chosen family Tracey and a host of friends near and far. 

A celebration of Suzy’s life will be held May 14 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, with prayer service at 6:00 PM at Storke Funeral Home, 131 3^rd St, Colonial Beach.
