Mrs. Elsie Teran Mundy was born in Bridgeport Connecticut, later lived in New York City, and lived in King George County, Virginia since 1954. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. Mrs. Mundy graduated from St. John’s University in New York, with a degree in business administration, and from the University of Virginia, with a master’s degree in elementary education. She taught elementary education in King George County for 27 years. Her main interests, besides her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were quilting, knitting and other needle arts.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Charles B. Mundy of 74 years; her children, Christine Combs (Don) of Maryville, Tennessee; Claude (Tricia) of League City, Texas; Cindy Cochran (David) of Mechanicsville, Virginia; and Cary Mundy of Richmond, Virginia, daughter-in-law, Michelle Mundy (Chipper) of Dublin, Ohio; six grandchildren, Caroline Mundy, Grant Mundy, David Cochran (Emily), Michael Cochran, Christopher Cochran, and Joshua Combs (Stacy); four great­grandchildren, Ella Combs, Eva Combs, Oliver Combs and Evan Cochran; and a sister, Pura Provenzano of Connecticut. She was predeceased by her son, Charles M. (Chipper) Mundy in 2008.

The family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home, King George Chapel, on Monday, May 16 from 3-5pm.  The funeral service will be  at 10am on Tuesday, May 17 at Oakland Baptist Church. Interment will be private. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of a donation to the Fredericksburg Chapter Salvation Army, 821 Lafayette Blvd., Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401.

 

Visitation & Funeral Service Information

The family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home, King George Chapel, on Monday, May 16 from 3-5pm. 

The funeral service will be  at 10am on Tuesday, May 17 at Oakland Baptist Church.

Interment will be private.
