She was born Laura Mae Jenkins in Pigeon Forge Tennessee on December 15th 1925 and lived there for the first 20 years of her life. She then married our Dad, Paul Maples also of Pigeon Forge and became a Navy wife for the next 31 years, living all over the world. They settled in Jersey Virginia in 1970 where she has lived for the last 52 years. She loved to sew, crochet, and knit along with many other crafts. Like her Mother, she was a master gardener of flowers, fruits and vegetables and loved canning, preserving and freezing them to share with everyone. She loved nature and hiking and especially birdwatching. Cardinals are her favorites! Most of all though, she loved our Lord, our Dad, our family and our many friends with all her heart! She was full of love, compassion, mercy and grace which are perfect qualities for the glorious place in which she lives now! We’ll always love you Mom, we’re looking forward to seeing you again so we can sing together in Glory.
