In loving memory of our dear mother, Helen, who passed away December 12, 2022 at the age of 93 in Fredericksburg Health Rehab Center in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Helen was born January 3, 1929 in Staunton, and later married William Arthur Painter. In 1975, she moved to Fredericksburg till her resting days. Helen was truly loved and respected by everyone she met, she was kind and caring to her children, grandchildren and all who crossed her path. She was a hard worker in different fields and loved to be around her family and friends especially at Christmas. Helen always enjoyed being around her brother Thornton, singing and playing country music. She also enjoyed traveling around to different places including casino’s, amusement parks, and country singers’ houses. Her hobbies included crocheting and many different crafts. Helen was a good old country girl who loved her children dearly and was always there if needed. Helen will be missed but will always be in our hearts and memories.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband William Arthur Painter of Fredericksburg, Va; her parents John Campbell and Ester Hall Campbell of Staunton, Va; two sons Edward W. Painter “Eddie” of Fredericksburg, Va and John L. Campbell “Johnny” of Staunton Va; two grandsons R. J. Bogley of Damascus, MD and Toby Jo Diamond of Falls Church, Va; two brothers Harry Campbell and Thornton Campbell both of Staunton, Va and her companion Nelson Carter of Fredericksburg, Va.
Helen is survived by her son Larry W. Painter of Fredericksburg and four daughters Dallie V. Diamond (Jim) of North Carolina, Shirley A. Conley (Mike) of Dale City, Robin J. Morgan (Ken) of King George and Phyllis M. Bogley (Joe) of Michigan; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2022 in Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Reverend Richard Headley officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until service time on Monday. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren Michael Diamond, Mitchell Diamond, Danny Kaye Conley, Christopher Conley, Kenny Morgan and Nevada Norton.
Visitation & Funeral Service Information
Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2022 in Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Reverend Richard Headley officiating.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg at 2:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until service time on Monday.
