II-Timothy 4-7
Today we pause to pay tribute and offer the Benediction upon the Life of Leala M. Mason. She was born December 5, 1946, to the late Deacon Fred Alfred Moore, Sr. and Mother Blanche Moore.
On December 18th, Leala said “Goodbye” to this world at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. She entered a peaceful and eternal rest surround by her loving family.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her savior and became a member of St. Anna Missionary Baptist Church in Blounts Creek, NC, later joining Union Bethel AME Church in Brandywine, MD and attended faithfully until her health failed.
Leala graduated from S. W. Snowden High School in Aurora, North Carolina. Shortly after graduation Leala moved to Washington, DC, where she lived with her sister Willow and worked a variety of domestic jobs.
On April 7, 1971, Leala was married to Lewis Mason. From this union two children were born. They remained a loving union until the unexpected death of her husband in January 1994. Leala enjoyed spending time doing word searches, and spending time at the Malls and shopping. She also enjoyed going on vacations with her daughter, and watching the daytime soaps. Leala had a big sweet tooth and enjoyed cakes and pies. She will always be known for her beautiful smile and willingness to help others. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending all their activities.
To cherish her memory, Leala leaves behind one son: Andrew Mason (Ann) of King George, VA, and one Daughter Karen P. Mason-Arrington (Kenneth) of White Pains, MD: Two sisters: Louise Crawford (Milton) of Chocowinity, NC and Willow Harvey of Fort Washington, MD; Two brothers James Nelson Moore and William Freddie Moore, both of Blounts Creek, NC. Four grandchildren (Brandon, Elvin, Lawrence and Kennedi), Three great-grandchildren (Ayonna, Jaiden and Desmond), one Aunt Alice Moore of Blounts Creek, NC; one Uncle Elias Moore (Mary) of Blounts Creek, NC, and a host of other relatives and friends.
